Navvia has two methodologies for defining and depicting the process activities and task flows. The original legacy method (Classic) creates the CFFD diagrams programmatically (slated to be 'sunset'). The second method (Drag & Drop) provides a graphical interface that allows you to create flow diagrams by manually selecting shapes, placing them on a “canvas” and moving them around any way you want. Both methods are connected to the underlying database that allows you to capture much more information about a task than just the name, primary role and flow sequence.

Purpose

Use the Drag & Drop pallets to select and add objects, highlight the flows and include annotations and supporting images to highlight the diagrams as you like and capture the detailed supporting task information at the same time. Access to these details is provided by a fly-out context menu on the drawing canvas.

Prerequisites

Newly created or existing ‘Drag & Drop’ format process definition.

Role

Editor, Workspace User Admin

Inputs

Purpose

Process inputs are items that originate from outside the process and provide information that is used to carry out the objectives of the process. Inputs can trigger the initiation of the process, or provide information that the process needs to meet the objectives of the process. Inputs can also be defined at the task level. In this case, tasks perform a series of steps that turn the input into a value-added output.

Prerequisites

Activity

Role

Editor, Workspace User Admin

Steps

1. Click on the Edit iconto update the Inputs or New Input to create a new one

2. Update all fields

3. Select Create or Update to apply the changes

4. Select New from Common (to select an input from a common list of inputs that may have been identified in other processes)

5. Select Copy to apply the changes

Field Descriptions

Field Label Description Remarks (optional)
Name Provide a brief and meaningful name for this input

Description Provide a detailed description for this input

Supplier Provide one or more sources for this input
e.g. Other ITSM processes, Project Management Office (PMO), Support groups
Trigger Check if this input acts as a trigger to initiate a task within the process

Common Check if this input is suitable for use in other processes

Steps to Associate with a Task

1. Select an item from the list

2. Click on the Associate with Task action

4. Click on the Associate button

Outputs

Purpose

Each process produces tangible outputs. These outputs can take the form of products or data and can be delivered to a user or stakeholder, or they can be used as inputs to other processes. Outputs are measurable in terms of quantity and quality.
